2 Weeks Old
Jonathan is 2 weeks old today. At his appt. he was weighed and was expected to have regained his birth-weight which would have been a three ounce gain, BUT he over shot that goal and gained one pound and two ounces. He now weighs 8 lbs 6 oz and is 21 inches long. He is doing excellent and his dr said he was a perfect baby.

Our Jonathan
Jonathan was born Monday, May 5, 2008 at 12:26pm at home.
He was 7 lb 7 oz and 20 in long.
He was born quickly, perhaps a little too quickly, because he needed some help with his breathing. We transferred to the ER and he was admitted to be monitored for 48hrs. Within an hour of birth he was doing just fine and rapidly became a picture of perfect health. He is doing excellent now and we are back home. I will post more pics and details as time allows.
We are thrilled with our little boy and to be back home with our family.
Just after arriving at the ER.
They wouldn't let me nurse yet, so he needed supplement. I was not happy about this, but once he was finally allowed to nurse he did fine. In fact, they wanted him to supplement in addition to nursing to keep his sugar levels normal, but after a while he began to refuse the bottle all together.

Just a quick factoid
Friday I had to go to Triage due to high blood pressure levels. I needed to have labs done to see if I was developing preeclampsia (I just have gestational hypertension, thank goodness).
Well, before they discharged me, to be on bed rest, they had a look over the chart of Jonathan's movements for the 2hr 45min I was there. The nurse informed me that he had accumulated the same amount of movements as the average baby would make in 6 days!
I will say that again. He did SIX DAYS OF MOVEMENT IN LESS THAN THREE HOURS! And I will admit, it was just his normal activity too.
Hmmmmmmmmmmm......and we thought Benjamin was active.

Week 36
Jonathan is still head down and doing well. He is approximately 6 lbs now. As of April the 19th on, it will be safe for him to be born. So whenever he is ready after that we will have our Jonathan!
It is a bit surreal to me that he could be born before this month is over. Then again he could arrive late (but let's hope not since he is a big boy!).

Week 35- ultrasound
All concerns have been put to rest!
Jonathan is now head down (let's hope he stays that way). Everything about him looks perfect and right on track. Because of his prior position it was causing me to measure large. The amniotic fluid levels are also perfect. And his kidneys, heart, and brain are all perfect as well.
At this time he is in the 63% for his size (Benjamin was 50% when he was born). Jonathan is about 5 lbs. 11 oz. at this time and they said he has chubby cheeks.
They were able to take a few 3-D pics. However he was was moving around so much they are a bit blurry, but still very cute.
They are very close profile pics. He is looking to the right and has his arm up next to his face.
I can't wait to see him in person. I hope everything continues well.

Week 34-appt
Well, I will need another ultrasound to determine if baby is just big, if my due date is right, or if there is just too much fluid, and also to make sure everything is okay since he is still not in position.
I am concerned, but I have been reassured that this is nothing major, they just need the information, but I can't help but feel a little worried. Hopefully I can get an appt. sooner than later so I don't have to worry too long. And I always have that concern in the back of my mind that something will show up that they didn't see on the first scan.
Oh the worries of pregnancy.
Otherwise, physically I feel great and baby's heartbeat is strong and he growing.

Week 32
The conclusion has been reached that I cannot consume dairy while pregnant. When I have even the smallest amount of cheese, butter, or milk my sugar levels are too high, otherwise I am fine. SO... no dairy for me for the next few weeks.
Baby Jonathan is quite the mover, in fact, he rolls around a lot for his age. He should be getting in position by now, but every day he finds a new place to sit. If he is not in position by my next appt. in two weeks, we may have to start trying things to coax him in the right direction (such as chiropractic adjustments for me). If this does not work I may need to get another ultrasound to check amniotic fluid levels (they may be high due to my sugar problems, which would give him a lot more swimming room). However, none of this is too concerning right now. He has plenty of time to do his thing. I think he just isn't ready to sit quietly in position and wait for delivery.
